Digital Citizenship

All grades have been working on becoming super digital citizens!!

There are some great resources that parents can use for digital/internet safety.  I have put a list below.

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students can also go to digitalpassport.org and play the games on the site. Digital Passport is an interactive learning tool for grades three to five that teaches and tests the basics of digital safety, etiquette, and citizenship. We will be spending the first couple weeks of school on these topics and games.  These games can also be played at home and repeated as many times as needed to be successful.  These games can be played on most PCs and laptops. 4th and 5th grade students need to play and pass the games to earn their digital citizenship license.  4th graders need an 80% or above on all games and 5th graders need a 90% or above.  When you have completed all the games, you will receive your digital passport and will be able to have the privilege of taking your school issued iPad home daily.

Welcome to our Computer Page!

I wanted to start by introducing myself.  My name is Samantha Ballinger and I am the new computer teacher here at Coyote Ridge Elementary School.  I am very excited to start the year off!

I have a Bachelor's of Arts in History from UMUC and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University. I have been married for 16 years to my wonderful husband Tom and we have two daughters, Katelin, who is starting 3rd grade and Keira, who is 3 and in preschool.

I look forward to getting to know all the students and an exciting year in computers!!
